Joy am Ufer, Germany

In the Mannheim district of Luzenberg, not far from the water tower, this fantastically beautiful new construction project called Joy am Ufer was built on the banks of the Old Rhine, which brings the holiday directly home.

The exclusive 89 light-flooded and bright apartments, spread over a total of 10 buildings, were equipped with floor-to-ceiling balcony glazing from Lumon facing the water. The project was planned by GJL Freie Architekten BDA from Karlsruhe, who won the competition organised by the city of Mannheim.

With Lumon’s rotary/sliding glazing, the first pane of glass is opened inwards and then all the other panes are pushed in the direction of the already opened pane and also opened until all the panes are “parked” at right angles on one side. The open glass panes can be attached to the wall with a strap to prevent rattling in the wind.
