Lumon responds to strong growth by launching new glazing products and investing in the plant in Spain

1 February 2021

In its operations, the Finnish family-owned company started in 2021 a new 4-year strategic period, with a view to reaching a growth of over 10 per cent in annual sales. “Although we want to increase our domestic sales, the focus area is the development of our international operations. We aim to recruit 350 people globally this year. The total includes seasonal workers. Most of the employees will be working in Finland,” says Jussi Kinnunen, CEO at Lumon Group.

The new glazing products have been developed on the basis of our 40-year experience that we have gained as a pioneer in the sector

“We have acted as a forerunner in the balcony glazing sector and our own product development activities have always formed an essential part of our business. Our new product is the Lumon Glazing product that can be mounted either on the balustrade, or as a full-height, floor-to-ceiling system,” says Risto Kivioja, Chief Development Officer at Lumon Group. “The new Lumon Glazing product has been developed on the basis of customer feedback and innovations made by our own staff,” Kivioja points out. “The new product enables us to better rise to increasing challenges set by our international project business, in particular,” Kivioja sums up.

The plant investment in Spain makes international growth possible

Outside Finland, our business is growing strongly in Spain, in particular. The delivery time and delivery reliability of the products are both critical factors in international business operations. “The new plant in Spain will meet additional capacity needs that result from the growth of our international business operations. We can stay closer to our customers and serve them better, by shortening the delivery time and improving the delivery reliability,” says CEO Jussi Kinnunen. “Over the last four years, we have invested around EUR 31 million in the machinery, equipment and software programmes of our Kouvola production plant. We aim to invest in the production plant in Kouvola in the future, as well. We are going to tell more about the investments later this year,” says Kinnunen. The new plant is located in Antequera, about 40 kilometres northwards from Málaga. The value of the investment is more than EUR 20 million.
