Lumon Canada’s glass processing factory investment completed and production started

30 September 2021

In August last year, the Finnish family-owned company Lumon announced that it would invest about one million euros in glass processing at their Canadian factory. Lumon has been operating in Canada since 2011, where the local factory has previously been responsible for assembling balcony glazing systems and the glass has been subcontracted pre-processed. Last week in Vaughan, Toronto, the completion of the factory investment was celebrated, and a new glass processing line was taken into use.

The Lumon Group is also currently making other significant investments in the company’s main production facilities in Kouvola Finland and in Antequerra, Spain. “The investments create a basis for future growth and aim to meet future requirements, such as producing the glazing systems of two Canadian high-rise buildings in Maple Ridge of which all 510 balconies will be glazed with Lumon products,” says Jussi Kinnunen, CEO of Lumon Group.

“Lumon Canada has been growing strongly and we currently employ more than 100 people in our area,” says Olli Vanska, CEO of Lumon North America. “We have succeeded in increasing our sales in both our consumer and project businesses, and our decade of work as a pioneer in the field of balcony glass and railing systems in Canada is finally bearing fruit,” Vänskä sums up. In addition to glass processing, Canadian production has also been further developed for profile processing, and an aluminum machining center investment worth approximately € 420,000 will be implemented. “We are really pleased that our 10th anniversary in Canada will be crowned by the completion of the new production line, and we are therefore ready to meet the growing demand for glazing products,” Vanska rejoices.
