[NEWS] “Roots” is the winner for the distinguished B!WRD Project Developer Award 2024
Germany’s tallest timber high-rise is making its mark, representing advancements in a new era of ecological construction. Last week, “Roots” was recognized with the BFW Project Developer Award “B!WRD” in the category “Residential” (Wohnen). During the gala in Berlin last week, BFW Bundesverband Freier Immobilien- und Wohnungsunternehmen e.V. announced winning projects for the categories “Residential”, “Commercial”, and “Neighborhood”. Fabian von Köppen accepted the award (pictured on the left).

[NEWS] Kouvola profile line achieves accident-free year
The profile line at Lumon’s factory in Kouvola has achieved an accident-free year. The profile line, with its heavy lifting and handling of bulky materials is prone to accidents. “This is a great accomplishment. One core element of this achievement has been the consistent improvement in cleanliness and orderliness, ensuring smooth flow of materials in the factory,” notes Production Manager Matti Puhakka.

[PROJECTS] Design project: Home of Finnish author and therapist Tommy Hellsten
Tommy Hellsten, a renowned Finnish writer, therapist, theologian and educator, resides in his unique seaside home in Loviisa. Tommy Hellsten’s home is known as “Wisdom House”, and serves not only as a home but also as a working environment for therapy services, counselling and consulting. One of the home’s main spaces is Lumon’s large glazed terrace, which can be accessed from various points in the home.

[MEDIA RELEASE] Germany’s tallest timber build “Roots” achieves completion, incorporating Lumon’s smart glazing technology
25th September 2024 – Roots, a pioneering 65-meter timber high-rise in Hamburg’s HafenCity quarter, has reached completion. The landmark building overlooking the River Elbe is known as Germany’s tallest timber construction, featuring 181 flats, office spaces, and exhibition areas across 18 floors. Developed by Garbe-Immobilien Projekte GmbH, the project emphasizes sustainability through innovative solutions, one of which is Lumon’s glazing solutions.

[NEWS] Chilean Construction Chamber Visits Lumon Factory in Kouvola
On Wednesday, September 4, 2024, Lumon’s headquarters in Kouvola welcomed a delegation of 23 high-rise developers from Chile. This visit was part of a broader tour organized by the Chilean Construction Chamber, with a specific focus on sustainable and responsible building practices. Earlier in the week, the group visited Denmark and continued their journey to Finland to explore advancements in timber construction and other innovative construction solutions.

[NEWS] Balkonser to provide authorized maintenance service of Lumon’s products in Finland
Starting from 2.9.2024, Finnish company Balkonser will act as the authorized service provider for Lumon’s products in Finland. Both Lumon’s consumer and professional customers such as property managers and housing companies can order Lumon’s regular maintenance services in Finland from Balkonser’s website, balkonser.fi (note: the website can only be found in Finnish). Lumon will continue to provide scheduled maintenance for Lumon’s patio glazing and will be responsible for any repairs to its installed glazing under existing warranty.

Lumon has recently published a new product solution, Optiwhite. Optiwhite is a particularly clear, low-iron glass, which offers exceptional light transmission and is practically colourless. Unlike traditional glass, which often exhibits a greenish tint due to its iron content, Optiwhite is engineered to eliminate this discoloration.
