13 September 2022
Tuesday, the 30th of August, marked a big day in the history of sustainable outdoor living solutions. Lumon has begun production in what is known as the most modern balcony glazing factory in the world in Antequera, Spain. The 25,000 m2 plant is equipped with the most technically advanced equipment to meet the demands of its ability to produce 6,000 glass panels per week.
The mayor of Antequera, Manuel Barón, visited the facilities, saying: “Antequera is in luck thanks to all the work of Lumon.” The tour of the factory was led by the Director of the Factory, Benjamín Pérez. The plant currently employs more than 50 people, expecting to grow significantly by the end of the year. This is a significant step towards local opportunity and sustainable growth in job possibilities within the city of Antequera.
The third secretary of the Andalusian Parliament, José Ramón Carmona, also was present at the site visit. Upon his visit, he states that: “we have been able to discover a factory of the future.
The company is glad that its nearly 30-year history in Spain has led to this moment. With the factory now located in Antequera, there will also be a reduction in the carbon footprint, since, with local operations, glazing transport will be shorter. “Having the most modern glazing factory in the world means having greater sustainability and reducing CO2 emissions,” says General Director of Lumon Spain, Javier Martínez. This factory will supply the entire southern part of Europe, which is why Antequera will become an important geographical export point.
The first customer orders have already been sent out from the factory, and the visitors could observe many more waiting to be shipped out and installed to provide more people with the opportunity to build a better home, and a more sustainable world.
