The SNA symposium ‘From Ideas to Conditions’ on June 3-4 at Malaga University
The SNA Symposium is a cultural activity that has emerged to generate a dialogue and a contrast between the architecture of Finland and Andalusia. The aim of this meeting is to create an event where architects from both territories share their work and experience, under a specific theme, in an academic atmosphere.
The team of chairmen for SNA is composed by the architects Veli-Matti Sanaksenaho, Mikko Summanen (Finland) and Borja Sallago (Spain).
After the first SNA Symposium occurred in Oulu and Aalto Universities in March 2023, second edition will be hold at University of Malaga under the topic from Ideas to Conditions. Therefore, for two days it would be possible to analyse, talk and share opinions about how Finnish and Andalusian architecture deal with connections and difference between Ideas and Conditions. Sometimes, architectural practice could be based on specific theories behind the building solutions: architects change their minds through the years, or maybe the reinforced those ideas. Sometimes those ideas are modified or highlighted by any condition which affect that design process and eventually, on building site.
- Which aspect came first during design process?
- How does it affect contemporary references and virtual approaches to create
architecture to balance ideas in early process and conditions when building that
architecture? ¿Is it different in Finnish or Spanish contexts? - What makes that debate to be nowadays relevant to students’ development?
The SNA symposium From Ideas to Conditions is funded by Malaga University, eAM´, LUMON, Finnish Ambassy in Spain, and ATL, and supported by SAFA, Oulu and Aalto University, and Instituto Iberoamericano de Finlandia.
